In conjunction with My Back Pages
“The Audacity of Hops” by Tom Acetelli. Join the author and our head brewer Aaron Mateychuk while they discuss hops, beer and its history while sampling some of Watch City’s great brews!

Overview
In 1975, there was one craft brewery in the United States; today, there are more than 2,000. Powered by millions of savvy, devoted consumers and raking in billions of dollars annually for producers and retailers, the American craft beer movement has changed the brewing industry and the international reputation of American beer. It has upended the Big Beer giants that once seemed untouchable and forever altered the culinary habits of not only millions of Americans but millions more worldwide.

Happy 17th Anniversary Watch City!!!

Owner Jocelyn Hughes and The Watch City Brewing Family are celebrating 17 glorious years of brewing your favorite Watch City Beers… um…with a little twist.

Yes!!!… Instead of frantically trying to fit in 17 unique, eclectic beers for every year that we have not invented yet just for the Anniversary Party, we decided we are gonna take a break… a vacation… perhaps? (a ten minute one that is…) for once and admire and enjoy what is new and exciting all around us in the local brewing world!

Instead of taking a fancy vacation, us at Watch City will join all you appreciated Watch City Patrons starting Wednesday, April 17th for an eclectic twist on a party… featuring only locally made beers from our favorite brewery friends!!! In homage to all the amazing stuff they all create too, we’re all gonna sit back and enjoy these following fine local breweries with all of you!

We will be brewing all new batches of your Watch City favorites in the next two weeks along with new warm weather seasonals! We’ll also use this time to improve and repair any of our equipment so we can continue to make the high quality brews that you have always enjoyed from us! But wait… there’s more!!!
That night will also feature a sneak preview beer at 8:30 pm…

Our early version of our Berliner weisse dutifully dubbed as “Weiss Weiss Baby!” after that notorious 80’s one-hit wonder, Vanilla Ice!!!

Owner Jocelyn Hughes and the Watch City Family thank you for the long patronage of all our guests.

Here is the current list with others to follow!!!

-Wormtown Brewing Co. – Worcester, MA – “Mass Whole Hefeweizen”
-Notch Brewing Co. – Ipswich, MA – “Left of the Dial IPA”
-Backlash Brewing Co. – Boston, MA – “Groundswell Belgian Blonde”
-Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project – Somerville, MA – “1939 No. 1 Ale”
-Jack’s Abby Brewing Co. – Framingham, Ma – “Maibock – Hurts Like
Helles”
-Cape ann brewing Co. – Gloucester, MA – “Fisherman’s Sunrise Saison”
Women have made their mark on Boston’s beer scene, between Massachusetts Girls’ Pint Out and the Boston Area Beer Enthusiasts Society (BABES), and now women in the beer industry are joining in too. Kelly McKnight, brewer at Watch City Brewing Company in Waltham, is creating a local chapter of the Pink Boots Society, an organization for women working in the beer industry, from brewers to sales reps to lab scientists and bartenders. McKnight says she is still working out the details, but plans on having the first Boston Chapter meeting during the American Craft Beer Festival. Watch City also recently brewed a collaboration beer with BABES, a Belgian Trippel called BABES Trippel Play.
