Featured Beer: Rettung Eins Kölsch or Rescue One Kölsch

Watch City Brewing’s German-style Golden Ale. This light offering is brewed with premium German Malt, noble hops and yeast. The fermentation is done on the colder side of ale fermentation temperatures (61–65 F) and lagered for weeks in cold conditioning to produce a clean, crisp, delicately balanced beer usually with very subtle fruit flavors and aromas. Subdued maltiness throughout leads to a pleasantly refreshing tang in the finish. Smooth and crisp in the taste. This beer was also brewed in conjunction with the Worcester Fire Department and will be donating proceeds from the sales of every keg sold to the Jon Davies Children Memorial Fund in honor of fallen Worcester Firefighter, Jon Davies who perished in the line of duty in December 2011.

Limited edition of 120 22 oz. bottles available only at Watch City Brewing after Feb. 10th. Third and fourth batches brewing soon! Read review from Boston.com.

Featured Beer: Bitter & Jaded ESB

ESB ( Extra Special Bitter) is the English cousin of the IPA with a few exceptions. Our ESB has a more prominent malt flavor with it’s toasty, caramel toffee notes to balance the sweetness of the tea-like English hops we use, known as Challenger. These hops accompany the malt flavors more so than the IPA which packs more of a punch with it’s hoppiness-to-malt balance. This beer ranks on the higher alcohol and body of the style but is still considered a session ale. The ESB is the stronger of the three bitter styles which are Best (or regular bitter  – between 4.2% and 4.7% ABV) and Session (or ordinary bitter-strength up to 4.1% ABV).

Seasonal Beer: FENWAY FUNGO SCOTTISH WEE LIGHT ALE

Our newest ale is a celebration of two sorts: First, it’s a celebration that winter is nally over and it’s time to make some lighter beers to accompany the change in the weather, but wait! – It’s New England! This beer is a session beer, a “wee-scotch light”. It’s a thirst quenching change of pace from the heavy winter oerings. It’s 3.8%, but it has body and a distinct earthiness from the English hops and the additions of local grain from Valley Malt in Western MA. It’s a baseball beer, a sunday-after-you-mow-the-lawn-beer. Lots of premium Marris Otter Pale Malt make it a spring time MVP canidate for all session beers!
